  चंद्रयान-1  और  चंद्रयान-2 चंद्रयान-1  भारत के प्रथम चंद्र मिशन चंद्रयान-1 को 22 अक्तूबर, 2008 को PSLV C-11 से सफलतापूर्वक विमोचित किया गया था। यह अंतरिक्षयान चंद्रमा के रासायनिक, खनिज और प्रकाश-भौमिकी मानचित्रण के लिये चंद्रमा की परिक्रमा करता है। इसका उद्देश्य चंद्रमा की सतह के विस्तृत मानचित्र एवं पानी की उपस्थिति और हीलियम की खोज करने के साथ ही चंद्रमा की सतह पर मैग्नीशियम, एल्युमीनियम, सिलिकॉन, कैल्शियम, आयरन और टाइटेनियम जैसे खनिजों और रासायनिक तत्त्वों का वितरण तथा यूरेनियम और थोरियम जैसे उच्च परमाणु क्रमांक वाले तत्त्वों की खोज करना था। चंद्रयान-2 यह चंद्रमा पर भेजा जाने वाला भारत का दूसरा तथा चंद्रयान-1 का उन्नत संस्करण है, जिसे अप्रैल 2018 में भेजे जाने की योजना बनाई गई है। इसके द्वारा पहली बार चंद्रमा पर एक ऑर्बिटर यान, एक लैंडर और एक रोवर ले जाया जाएगा। ऑर्बिटर जहाँ चंद्रमा के चारों ओर परिक्रमा करेगा, वहीं लैंडर चंद्रमा के एक निर्दिष्ट स्थान पर उतरकर रोवर को तैनात करेगा। इस यान का उद्देश्य चंद्रमा की सतह के मौलिक अध्ययन (Elemental Study) के साथ-साथ वहाँ...
